February the 26th.
We begin the first full week of our return to hope. The scriptures on this first Sunday of Lent always focus on sin: the poor choices which we make in our life journey. Our first parents are portrayed as wanting to be like God, but not in the way he intended. Look around you. Things haven't changed.
From top to bottom, we witness choices that we can't understand that result in consequences we continue to lament. Lent is a time when we are encouraged to look at the choices we make in our lives. We focus on how they could be improved. From Jesus and the apostles, we receive encouragement and examples.
Our return begins with the choices we make each and every day.
Lord, thank you for the grace of Lent.
