May the 2nd.
As you listen to the message proclaimed by the gospel today, take time to stop and reflect on just what it says: Jesus and the Father are one.
The human person whom we have come to respect, love, and follow is telling us that he and God the Father are the same. He is saying that the very source of all creation, of all power, is able to be known, touched, and communicated with by us.
The God we can only think of as far above us and distant from us, has chosen to be present to us and to relate to us as one with whom we can speak and approach.
This was astounding for the people who heard it. It is no less for us as we try to grasp its meaning.
Risen Lord, deepen my faith.
