April the 18th.
The readings today highlight two people: Nicodemus and Barnabas. They each were drawn to Jesus. Each had a different path to follow.
We know that Nicodemus explored the effects of being reborn with Christ himself. Scripture tells us that he eventually was one of those who helped with the burial of Christ’s body and set the stage for the resurrection.
Barnabas was drawn by the message of the resurrection. He grew in the early Christian community and eventually was instrumental in bringing the new disciple Paul into the active mission of the church.
The path we follow will be different than theirs, but it must be as bold and active as each of theirs was.
Lord, give me strength.
