The Friars

The Friars that serve at Assumption are part of a community known as The Order of Friars Minor Conventual or Franciscan Friars Conventual. They belong to a the province (region) of Our Lady of the Angels of the Order. The Francisans have been present in Syracuse since the earliest years of the church. The friars live together the Gospel life where everything is held in common and from which the friars go out in ministry. The friars gather twice a day to pray as a community, share common meals, spend time together as brothers. There are several friars who serve in the ministries at Assumption as well as at Syracuse University, St. Joseph’ Health Center and in counseling.

The Guardian (leader) of the friary is Friar Ed Falsey.
